Quote of the day -

“A barracks is meant to be a place where real soldiers were to be fed
and equipped for war, not a place to settle down in or as a comfortable
snuggery in which to enjoy ourselves. I hope that if ever they, our
soldiers, do settle down God will burn their barracks over their heads!”

Excellent quote and one that ought be applied to the church.

We are quite often too comfortable in this life to notice, or care about the evil that surrounds us.

But this is talking about army barracks where soldiers go to relax in-between life-or-death engagements with the enemy.

They shouldn't be able to relax anywhere? If they're not being drilled for war every second of the day or night then God should smite their lazy arses?

Seriously, I don't get why this is a good quote.

Now the Church I could understand;

“A Church is meant to be a place where real Christians were to be fed
and equipped for Spiritual war, not a place to settle down in or as a comfortable
snuggery in which to enjoy ourselves. I hope that if ever they, our
Christian soldiers, do settle down God will burn their Church over their heads!”

With apologies to Catherine Booth (whoever she is)

The body of believers is the church (or vice versa).

We (the church) should never be lazy, comfortable or even enjoying ourselves (a la entertaining for the sake of entertaining) when it comes to reaching the lost, caring for the poor, feeding the hungry, visiting the prisons, taking care of orphans and widows, etc..

Catherine Booth was the wife of William Booth (founder of the Salvation Army).

Ok, I thought for a minute there that you had something against actual soldiers taking a breather in their actual barracks.

Which would have been weird given that you're a Fox News man!

Carry on then.
