"What is it to do the work of the Father?" (they asked Jesus)
He said, "Believe in the one whom He has sent."
Lord, Lord. How do we know if we have enough faith?
He gives us faith. It is a gift.
We Lutherans focus on the external Word that comes to us from outside of ourselves (in preaching, baptism, holy communion)that way we do not internalize our faith and start to try and muster up enough of it on our own, by either how we feel, or what we do.
The external Word puts the onus on Christ and His work...FOR US.

If only every "Pastor" could understand this point. This is a hard message to understand and teach, but it is so true.
