Abortion provider murdered

From FoxNews -

WICHITA, Kan. — A man suspected of shooting and killing Dr. George Tiller, one of the few doctors in the U.S. who performed late-term abortions, was in jail Monday while investigators sought to learn more about his background, including the extent of his connections to anti-abortion groups.

Tiller, 67, was serving as an usher during morning services Sunday when he was shot in the foyer of Reformation Lutheran Church, police said. The gunman fired one shot at Tiller and threatened two other people who tried to stop him.

The suspect, identified by one law enforcement agency as Scott Roeder, was taken into custody some 170 miles away in a Kansas City suburb about three hours after the shooting.

Let me be very clear here; we are a nation where rule of law must exist and be enforced. We do not live in a vigilante land where, if you think you have been wronged or if you believe certain legislation does not apply to your morals and ethics, you can hunt down those whom have hurt you or wronged you and 'make it right' according to your principles of justice.

Scott Roeder is suspected of committing, more than likely, premeditated murder.

If he is the guilty person, he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Roeder is not above the law.

Here is what President Obama had to say concerning this event: "However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence,"

I find that statement very ironic in the light of what the abortionist, George Tiller, made his living doing; committing heinous acts of violence.

Here is what another late tem abortionist had to say concerning Tiller's murder: "Dr. Tiller's assassination is not the lone and inexplicable action of one deranged killer," Hern said Sunday. "This was a political assassination in a historic pattern of anti-abortion political violence. It was terrorism."

Again, the irony is very thick here, "It was terrorism."

There is a huge disconnect here.

I define what Roeder allegedly did as a rogue vigilante who took the law into his own hands without letting due process of altering legislation and changing the public heart over abortion rather than pronouncing what Roeder did using language that would succinctly describe Tiller, and every other abortionist, in the same exact language.

I hate abortion.

Abortion is a horrific heinous act of violence and terrorism on a helpless human being in the womb.

Murdering abortion doctors is not the cure to this problem.

We have a heart problem. We have left the God of the Bible and have been led down the road of idolatry by the one who has lied from the beggining.

The answer to the problem of abortion and all the woes of this country and the world is simple:

Repent and trust the Gospel.

Wayne,

If abortion were made illegal in the US, what would you suggest should be the punishment for those doctors who do it anyway?

I think I've asked this before and you said 'death', but I wanted to check and make sure.

This guy, Roeder, has done the anti-abortion movement some real harm with this action; it's going to be so easy for pro-choice people to dismiss the arguments of pro-lifers by lumping everyone into the same doctor-killing pile.

I'm glad to see the anti-abortion political groups unanimously condemn what he has done.

I wish the same could be said for the folk over at Rapture Ready - they have some polarized views on the issue...

Absolutely right, Dawg. The answer to the problem doesn't really lie in politics. Repent and Trust in Jesus Christ and the rest will follw.

Matt, you are right to. This murderer has done an injustice to the movement as a whole. I just hope he doesn't bring up God or the church when he's questioned about why he did it.

'If' abortion were illeagal and treated correctly as murder, then apply the laws on the books concerning murder toward those who have abortions and those who perform them.

I don't think I have ever said that those who have abortions or those who perform them should get the death sentence.

They should, at the very least, have the same penalty of law due them as any murderer would face if convicted of the same crime.

Well stated, Wayne. Vengeance belongs to the Lord and nobody else. This act was nothing but cold blooded murder. No different from what Tiller was doing which makes his murder just as wrong.

Fair enough, Wayne, it must have been someone else who was talking about 'an eye for an eye' style punishment.

It's a dark day all-round.
