Jesus Plus Nothing

"There is no better test as to whether a man is really preaching the New Testament
gospel of salvation than this: that some people might misunderstand it and misinterpret to mean that… because you are saved by grace alone it does not matter at
all what you do; you can go on sinning as much as you like because it will
redound all the more to the glory of grace… If my preaching and presentation of
the gospel of salvation does not expose it to that misunderstanding then it is not
the gospel."

St. Paul anticipated the same reaction by the Romans.

Nice one, Wayne!

"Watch my lips ... Jesus plus nothing!' is my saying!

In my preaching recently I have stuck to the theme that a born again Christian will naturally hate doing what it says in God's Word that we shouldn't do and hate not doing the things that God's Word insists on us doing!

That is not to say that we will get this right everytime - but we hate it when we don't.

God bless Wayne

I love to ask those that agree with Jesus + 'nothing', how they feel about one having to make a decision for Christ (that IS something)...or how they feel about having to produce the fruits of the Spirit... (that IS something)... or how they feel about having to have an inerrant Bible (that IS something)...

oftentimes you will flush out a requirement or two...in addition to Jesus.

Nothing means...nothing.

Christ... ALONE.
