Feds Knew NYC Flyover Would Cause Panic
Furious Obama Apologizes: "It Will Never Happen Again"
NEW YORK (CBS) ― A furious President Barack Obama ordered an internal review of Monday's low-flying photo op over the Statue of Liberty.
Federal officials knew that sending two fighter jets and Air Force One to buzz ground zero and Lady Liberty might set off nightmarish fears of a 9/11 replay, but they still ordered the photo-op kept secret from the public.
To say that it should not be made public knowing that it might scare people it's just confounding," Sen. Charles Schumer said.
"It's what gives Washington and government a bad name. It's sheer stupidity."
The flyover -- apparently ordered by the White House Office of Military Affairs so it would have souvenir photos of Air Force One with the Statue of Liberty in the background -- had President Obama seeing red.
He ordered a probe and apologized. "It was a mistake. It will never happen again," President Obama said.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Now I usually don't make comments anymore about these kind of things, but I thought I might raise my hand on this one.......
Sheer stupidity?
That's an understatement.
The President went on to say; "It was a mistake," Mr. Obama said before a meeting with Federal Bureau of Investigation leaders. "It was something we found out about along with all of you, and it will not happen again."
He found out along with the rest of us?
How can the P.O.T.U.S. not be aware that Air Force Two is being used as a publicity photo-op?
The president must know, at all times, where both Air Force One and Air Force Two are. I am willing to bet that there are major scheduling complexities that have to be worked out for either of those planes to fly at any given time. These planes just don't go up in the air without a major effort on a lot of people's part.
Did the teleprompter let him down again?
How much of a free pass will the mainstream media give Obama on this one without demanding that actions rather than apologies start happening now? What would the press have done if this happened under Bush?
Why would sanctions be threatened against the NYPD, Secret Service, FBI and the Mayors office if the fly-over secret got out?
I have the hardest time believing that Obama knew nothing about this photo-op. More than that, I am willing to bet that only the president of the United States could have given the Ok for this to even happen.
More needs to be done than just make apologies; Obama needs to fire everyone who had their hands on this one to show that he indeed had no knowledge or anything to do with this.

Gospel is good news for the poor?
WASHINGTON – Surrounded by stained glass windows, dark wooden pews filled with people, and the soaring voices of a black Gospel choir, Christians from across the country gathered inside a Baptist church Sunday night to proclaim that the “Gospel is good news for the poor.”
Whew, that is good news. Until this announcement, I had no idea that the Gospel was good news to the poor!
As a pastor spoke about the “spirit of justice,” a crowd of some 1,000 people sitting in Shiloh Baptist Church eagerly responded with "amen's." Thus began the first day of Mobilization to End Poverty, a large-scale anti-poverty event drawing Christians and politicians alike.
“I wish all the wonderful people of God who have come here in this holy place, during the next few days, to speak up and speak out to members of the Congress, the administration, to do everything we can to relegate and put the issue of poverty ahead,” said Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.), who delivered the message, on Sunday.
Wait, I thought we were talking about the Gospel here?
Lewis, a prominent civil rights leader who was educated at the American Baptist Theological Seminary in Nashville, said that although Christians pray, read the Bible, deliver sermons, and enjoy beautiful worship music, “there comes a time that we have to move our feet.”
Ok, now we are talking about going out and sharing the Gospel...for a minute there I was worried.
“We need in America, more than anything I think, a revolution of values, a revolution of ideas,” Lewis contended.
“I do not understand. It is strange to me if we can bail out Wall Street, why can’t we bail out the children of God dying here,” the long-time congressman said as the room erupted into applause.
No...this is not about going out and sharing the Gospel. I don't know what "it" is, but is certainly not evangelism.
My friend Robert over at Bring the Noiz made this statement: "There are many people in the Church today who purposely do things like this, be it giving out bottles of water, free food, ect. and call it "evangelism." But was it evangelism when I convinced a lady to get some collards? A good work yes, evangelism NO!"
The Gospel is "good news to the poor" (and the rich and middle-class) only when we open our mouth and proclaim the full Gospel; Law and Grace. (Romans 10:14)
Jesus did not come and die on the cross so people will have full belly's.
The Bible say’s in Hebrews 9:27 that it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. The Bible is clear that after we die, we will stand in judgment before God.
So how does one get forgiveness of sins and eternal life with God?
You may say, "What sins?" The Bible says in 1 John 3:4 that whoever transgresses the Law commits sin. So sinning is transgressing or breaking God’s Law.
Which Law? The Ten Commandments, God’s moral Law.
Have you broken God’s Law?Let’s look at just three of the Commandments…The 9th Commandment is thou shall not lie. Ever told a lie? That makes you a liar. The 8th Commandment is thou shall not steal. Ever stolen something? That makes you a thief. The 3rd Commandment is thou shall not take the Lord’s Name in vain. Ever said something like, "Oh my G**?" Or used His name as a curse word? The Bible calls that blasphemy. The Bible says that God will not hold him guiltless who takes His Name in vain.
The Bible says that all liars will have their part in the lake of fire.
The Bible also says that no thieves will inherit the Kingdom of God.
That’s the bad news.
But there is good news!
Two thousand years ago, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to Earth. He lived a perfect sinless life. He died a horrible brutal death on the cross for the sins of the world; for your sins and my sins. They buried Him. But three days later, God raised Him from the dead so that you could have forgiveness of your sins and eternal life in Heaven.
It’s like this; you broke God’s Law, but Jesus paid your fine in His life's blood.
The question now becomes; how do you receive this forgiveness of sins? The Bible says you must repent of your sins and place your trust in Christ to save you from God’s wrath on judgment day. To repent is not just saying you’re sorry, but turning your back on sin as well. Trusting in Christ is like trusting a parachute. You don’t just believe in a parachute, you must put it on for it to save you.
Once you do this, you will pass from death to life and God’s wrath will pass-over you.

Deeper
Last year I attended the first "Deeper" conference with my son and best friend.
The speaker line up last year was amazing: Paul Washer, Marshall Foster, Ken Ham, Ray Comfort, Kirk Cameron, Todd Friel, Emeal Zwayne and my former Pastor, Johnny Hunt.
Topics last year ranged from the essential truths of the cross to the sufficiency of the Bible. From apologetics to the transforming work of the Gospel through the ages.
I met folks who I only knew from blogs and Christian sites. I made new friends and reacquainted with friends not seen in a while.
We had incredible worship times where the hymns glorified God and exalted Him in all His glory and attributes.
But the most memorable time I had was after the conference was over. I, and more than 500 folks who love to share the Gospel, went out onto the streets of Atlanta and handed out thousands of tracts and personally witnessed and publicly proclaimed the Gospel to the lost.
Deeper is back with another powerful line up which includes the Way of the Master team again as well as Ravi Zacharius, Mark Cahill and Greg Koukl.
Last year Deeper had people from all over the country come to the conference. Some flew in from the left coast and some drove long distances many states away to be there.
Folks, if there is any way you can make this conference....do it. I know money is tight this year.....trust me, I KNOW. But if there is any way you can swing it and make this conference you will not be disappointed. Maybe I will get to meet a some of you guys face to face like I did with a few bloggers last year.
I have not heard of any organized event yet to go back out on the streets of Atlanta, but I cannot see us not doing that again.
Check out the conference site and pray about attending!

Heart of the Gospel - John MacArthur
It doesn't get more succinct than this.Watch and listen as Pastor John MacArthur explains what is really at the heart of the gospel in less than a minute and a half, with Kirk Cameron, in a segment from the Way of the Master television show.
How can we keep this essential gospel truth to ourselves and not tell anybody? Oh, that we would never take the substitutionary work of Christ on the cross and our salvation by God's grace for granted!
Remember: you probably heard the gospel from someone who cared enough to give it to you at some point, which eventually led to your conversion.
Pass it on!
Dose of Ravenhill
The Apostle Paul got a picture of Jesus, not with a lamb in His arms, and not like the stained glass windows where Jesus looks pathetically feminine. He sees Jesus, and he says He's "the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, to whom be praise and glory forever" (I Tim. 1:17). So we're going to see the King of kings. He's the Judge of judges in the Court of courts. There is no tribunal after this. It is finished!
And when I hear people singing "Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the waters," or "Shake hands with Jesus," I say, "Forget it!" Listen, when you see Jesus, you're not going to go up and say, "Hey, buddy, I'm glad You died for me." When you see Jesus, you'll be almost paralyzed with fear unless you have a glorified body and a glorified mind. John was given the book of Revelation as a prisoner on a devil's island -- but he was in the Spirit when this enormous revelation was given to him. The picture of Jesus here is not a picture of a pathetic individual pushed around by anybody who wants to push Him around. I think sometimes we think we're going to march up and say, "Well, Jesus. You know how many years I served You, and how many souls I won for You, and how many sermons I preached for You...!" Oh, no...it won't be like that at all.

Monday morning prayer time
The only place where we could meet would be the break-room. The break-room is an enclosed area with windows that can see into the big manufacturing plant. It didn't take long for the folks out in the plant to figure out what we were doing every Monday.
The rumours started to fly.
"They are starting a cult"....."They are a bunch of whacky Jesus freaks"....."What the heck are they trying to prove?".
After a few weeks we had some other Christians join us. What started out as four can be anywhere from seven to eight on any given Monday.
We pray for specific people who are mentioned in our circle. We pray for our company. We pray for safety of all the employees. We pray for the leaders of the company. We pray for the leaders of our State. We pray for the leaders of our country and all the troops around the world. We pray for lost people.
We just pray.
The time is not for socializing; that can be done at anytime.
After months of doing this the chatter in the plant over what we were doing died down. Although the plant workers can see us, they don't really even glance a second look now. I'm sure they look at our Monday morning prayer time as status quo.
This morning, one of the prayer team members came up to me and told me that 'Arnold' (not his real name) stopped her yesterday afternoon and asked her when we met again to pray for his mother-in-law.
This is not the first time that someone outside our group has asked for prayer on their behalf or for someone else.
I'm not sure if 'Arnold' is a Christian or not. Hopefully I, or one of our group members, will have a chance to witness to him.
What started out as mocking and jeering of our prayer group has now become a 'go-to' place for those who know that they can come to us and ask us for prayer(s) and know with assurance that we will be praying for them.
God be praised!

Spurgeon moment
"O Lord, we are covered with shame--because we have sinned against You!" Daniel 9:8
A deep sense and clear sight of sin--its heinousness, and the punishment which it deserves--should make us lie low before God's throne. As Christians--we have sinned! Alas! that it should be so. Favored as we have been--we have yet been ungrateful. Privileged beyond most--we have not brought forth fruit in proportion. What Christian is there--who will not blush when he looks back upon his past sins?
Oh, the atrocity of the sin of a pardoned soul! An unpardoned sinner sins cheaply--when compared with the sin of one of God's own elect ones, who has had communion with Christ and leaned his head upon Jesus' bosom.
Alas! these sins of ours would consign us to the place of inextinguishable fire--if it were not for the sovereign mercy which has made us to differ, snatching us like brands from the burning! My soul, bow down under a sense of your natural sinfulness, and worship your God.
Admire . . .
the grace which saves you;
the mercy which spares you;
the love which pardons you!

Wrong answer, no tierra for you!
"As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman," said Lewis in a statement. "I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family."

Is America still a Christian nation?
A few years ago Obama said this, "Whatever we once were, we are no longer a Christian nation - at least, not just. We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, and a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."
Is the United States still a Christian nation?
In my opinion, no.
Does the United States have a rich heritage and beginning foundation under the banner of Christianity?
Yes, absolutely.
Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs, and in a recent poll, 83% of Americans identified themselves as Christians.
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/beliefnet_poll_010718.html
Can this be right? Basically 8 out of 10 people are Christian?
No - There is no way.
This may be the only thing Obama and I will ever agree on; America is no longer a Christian nation.
How can it be?
Look at a poll that just came out today from Barna:
Almost 6 out of 10 'Christians' either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed with the statement that Satan "is not a living being but is a symbol of evil," the survey found. Forty percent strongly agreed with the statement while 19 percent of American Christians somewhat agreed.
Likewise, most 'Christians' in the United States do not believe that the Holy Spirit is a living force. Fifty-eight percent strongly or somewhat agreed with the statement that the Holy Spirit is "a symbol of God's power or presence but is not a living entity."
More than one-fifth (22 percent) strongly agreed that Jesus Christ sinned when He lived on earth, with an additional 17 percent agreeing somewhat.
Half of all Christian marriages end in divorce.
There are plenty more polls out there to show even more alarming statistics of what 'Christians believe within the 'Christian' community.
Look at our country folks. If this were really a Christian nation would our country look like it does today?
*America sees more than a million abortions per year.
*There are more than 16,000 murders per year (not counting abortions of course).
*The tolerance and boldness of the homosexual movement.
I live in the 'Bible belt' and more times than not when I'm sharing the Gospel it's the first time a person has ever heard anything about sin, judgment, Hell and what Christ did to save us.
Folks, this country is far from the title 'Christian Nation' and looks more like a biblical Sodom and Gomorrah.
But there is good news!!
This means that the fields are even whiter for witnessing the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ!!
So get out there and tell someone this week!
Why should we witness?
Have you ever asked yourself, "Why should I witness?" Several reasons should come to mind.
First, because Jesus commands you to: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit," (Matt. 28:19). Also, Ezek. 3:11 says, "and go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or not..."
Second, you must witness because you love the unsaved (if you don't, you should). The most loving thing you can do is present the gospel in hopes of bringing others to salvation. Galatians 5:22 lists love as one of the fruit of the Spirit. It is love's nature to give. Take for example John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." Love gives, and if you have only a small portion of His love, you will want to give to others.
Third, witness because it is a wise thing to do. Prov. 11:30 says, "...he who is wise wins souls." Now, I know I am not a very wise person. But, since God says I'll be wise to win souls, or try to, then great, let me at it. I want to be wise in God's sight.
Fourth, witness to keep people out of hell. Hell is a terrifying place of utter anguish and eternal separation from God. Those who are not saved go there. Witnessing is an attempt to keep them out of hell.
Fifth, witness because it pleases God and brings glory to His name.
Sixth, witness so they may find the love and fellowship of God (1 John 1:3), the greatest of all treasures. I can think of no greater gift than salvation. It frees the sinner from sin, it delivers the lost from damnation, and it reveals the true and living God to those who don't know Him.
The angels of heaven rejoice greatly when anyone passes from judgment into salvation (Luke 15:10). Shouldn't we as Christians rejoice too? Shouldn't we weep over the lost? Shouldn't we ask the Lord of the field to send laborers into His harvest (Luke 10:2)? Certainly! The salvation of others is the goal of your efforts. The love of God is your motive. Is there anything greater? So, give.

Go and tell someone
Matt 28:16-20 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Luke 24:44-48 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things.
Mark 16:19-20 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.

This command from Jesus was not just given to the remaining eleven. This command was given to the church.
This command was given to you, Christian.

They put Him into a tomb and then He revived in the cool tomb and He came out again. Well, the apostles, of course, shatter all that argument absolutely.
Remember that this is the thing that got the apostles into trouble! If Jesus wasn't risen from the dead, I think they could have gone back to the temple and said, "Look, He was a good man, we saw miracles, and He was a marvelous man, but He didn't come through on the last thing. He said, 'I'm going to rise from the dead under My own power.' - we're sorry He didn't make it. And we feel that we have something that we should share with you..."
You know, I think in the temple they could have started a new school, and a new sect of Jesus followers, and had no trouble. But the thing right out in the open was that these men who had trembled and run away, who forsook Him and fled, become as bold as lions.
Why? Because they knew that Jesus had risen from the dead, that's why!

Guns in church?
Neb. Lawmakers Advance Guns in Churches Bill
A Nebraska bill that would allow church security guards to carry concealed handguns advanced in the state legislature on Thursday.
The church provision was tacked on as an amendment to a measure that prohibits cities from having their own ban on concealed weapons.
State lawmakers voted 29-15 to adopt the amendment and 40-4 to advance the bill.
The amendment was introduced by Sen. Beau McCoy of Omaha whose decision was prompted by recent shootings and violence at other churches.
"A house of worship is a sacred place," McCoy said, according to Fremont Tribune. "And as such, it should be kept that way."
The Rev. Harry Buse, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church in Omaha, said he didn't like the idea of arming security guards in houses of worship.
But he also commented, "I would like to think that we wouldn't need guns in church, though I realize times have changed," according to the Omaha World-Herald.
Sen. McCoy, who attends Westside Church in Omaha, is convinced that the amendment would enhance safety in churches. He pointed to the 2007 shooting at New Life Church in Colorado Springs that could have resulted in numerous deaths but ended when a church security guard shot the gunman.
Months after the shooting, New Life's senior pastor, the Rev. Brady Boyd, recommended that all churches have armed guards.
Opposing the amendment, Sen. Brenda Council called it "antithetical to the whole premise of a place of worship."
"If you believe in the power of prayer, you don't need someone in the church who's strapped" with a gun, Council said, according to Omaha World-Herald.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I believe strongly in the 2nd Amendment. I believe the wording is clear. I believe there can be no mistake or denying that citizens of the United States have a Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
With that being said, would this Nebraska bill allowing church security guards to carry concealed weapons on church property give churchgoers a sense of protection from loonies who might want to shoot up a pastor and some attendees, or does it completely fly in the face of the church building/grounds as being a sacred place of worship free from firearms?

From Trish Ramos over at Fish with Trish
Dose of Ravenhill
There is a terrible vacuum in evangelical Christianity today. The missing person in our ranks is the prophet. The man with a terrible earnestness. The man totally otherworldly. The man rejected by other men, even other good men, because they consider him too austere, too severely committed, too negative and unsociable.
Let him be as plain as John the Baptist.
Let him for a season be a voice crying in the wilderness of modern theology and
stagnant "churchianity."
Let him be as selfless as Paul the apostle.
Let him, too, say and live, "This ONE thing I do."
Let him reject ecclesiastical favors.
Let him be self-abasing, nonself-seeking, nonself-projecting, nonself- righteous,
nonself-glorying, nonself-promoting.
Let him say nothing that will draw men to himself but only that which will move
men to God.
Let him come daily from the throne room of a holy God, the place where he has
received the order of the day.
Let him, under God, unstop the ears of the millions who are deaf through the
clatter of shekels milked from this hour of material mesmerism.
Let him cry with a voice this century has not heard because he has seen a vision
no man in this century has seen. God send us this Moses to lead us from the
wilderness of crass materialism, where the rattlesnakes of lust bite us and where
enlightened men, totally blind spiritually, lead us to an ever-nearing Armageddon.
God have mercy! Send us PROPHETS!

Living his best life now -
Attacker said he aimed to stop Christian conversions; Hindu extremist connection suspected.
By Vishal Arora
NEW DELHI, In an effort to stop conversions to Christianity in the eastern state of Bihar, a 25-year-old ailing man on Sunday (March 8) exploded a crude bomb in a church and shot the pastor.
Police Inspector Hari Krishna Mandal told Compass that the attacker, Rajesh Singh, had come fully prepared to kill the pastor, Vinod Kumar, in Baraw village in the Nasriganj area of Rohtas district, and then take his own life.
“However,” Mandal said, “believers caught him before he could do more damage or kill himself.”
The 35-year-old pastor was taken to a hospital in nearby Varanasi, in the neighboring state of Uttar Pradesh and at press time was out of danger of losing his life, according to a leader of Gospel Echoing Missionary Society (GEMS) who requested anonymity.
The church, Prarthana Bhawan (House of Prayer), belongs to GEMS. Around 30 people were in the church when the attack took place. Some women in the church sustained burns in the blast.
“Rajesh Singh threw a crude bomb from the window of the church, and the sound of the explosion created a chaos in the congregation,” said Inspector Mandal. As members of the church began to run out, he added, Singh came into the building and shot the pastor with a handmade pistol from point-blank range.
Singh had more bombs to explode and three more bullets in his pistol, but church members caught hold of him and handed him over to police, the inspector said.
“In his statement, Singh said he was personally against Christian conversions and wanted to kill the pastor to stop conversions,” Mandal said. “He wanted to take his own life after killing the pastor, and this is why he had more bullets in his pistol and an overdose of anesthesia in a syringe.”
Asked if Singh had any links with extremist Hindu nationalist groups, the inspector said no such organization was active in the area, though local Christians say Hindu extremist presence has increased recently. The GEMS source said people allegedly linked with a Hindu nationalist group had sent a threatening letter to the pastor, asking him to stop preaching in the area.
The source said the incident could have been fallout from conversions in nearby Mithnipur village, where a Hindu family had received Christ after being healed from a mental illness around six months ago. Singh also lives in Mithnipur.
“Pastor Kumar had not been visiting the village, fearing opposition from the villagers who were not happy with the conversion of this family,” the GEMS source said. “The same church’s cross had also been damaged about a year ago by unidentified people.”

Walking Bibles
"Give me understanding, and I will keep Your law and obey it with all my heart." Psalm 119:34
Determine to PRACTICE whatever you read. Christians should be walking Bibles, living the truths written. The Word is not only a guide to knowledge, but a guide to obedience. A holy reading of God’s Word, results in our fleeing from sins, and practicing the duties commanded.
"I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey Your word." Psalm 119:101
