The damned in Hell would be most penitent

The damned in hell would be most penitent

(Thomas Watson, "The Doctrine of Repentance")

"Unless you repent, you will also perish." Luke 13:5

There are several counterfeits of repentance.

A man has gone on long in sin. At last God arrests him, shows him what desperate hazard he has run—and he is filled with anguish! But after a while, the tempest of conscience is blown over, and he is quiet. Then he concludes that he is a true penitent because he has felt some bitterness in sin.

Do not be deceived! This is not true repentance!

Both Ahab and Judas had great trouble of mind.It is one thing to be a terrified sinner—and another to be a repenting sinner. Sense of guilt is enough to breed terror in the conscience. Only infusion of divine grace, breeds true repentance. If pain and trouble were sufficient to repentance—then the damned in hell would be most penitent, for they are most in anguish.

"Men gnawed their tongues in agony, and cursed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, but they refused to repent of what they had done!" Revelation 16:10-11

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please repent of your sins against God and trust Christ to save you before it's too late. The Bible says that 'it is appointed men once to die and then the Judgment.'

When you die it will be too late for your repentance.

Repent of your blasphemy; of your stealing; of your lying; of your coveting; of your disobeying your parents; of your failing to put God first in your life.

If you die in your sins God will punish you for breaking His Commandments. The price to pay is eternity in the Lake of Fire. This does not have to happen.

Repent with a godly sorrow for sinning against the Creator and put your trust in Christ to save you from God's wrath. If you do this, you will have forgiveness of your sins and eternal life in Heaven.

Do it today.

Take us further down your illogical reasoning, Mr. Anonymous. What motivation do I have in scaring you into believing as I do? And how exactly does one's motivation affect the truth in their statements? It doesn't. In this case you can't even form any sensible reason for why a sincere Christian is concerned over your eternal soul other than the fact that he sincerely is and for no other reason.

I'm anonymous because I have not created an account yet; why should I if all I do is read blogs?

The threat of hell from Christians is as old as the faith itself.

Jews were not even that big into hell....where is hell in the old testament?

Hell was nothing more than to scare up people into joining the new religion...that's all!
