Funny Story

Ok - This has nothing to do with anything in particular.......it's just plain funny!

Energy Guzzled by Al Gore’s Home in Past Year Could Power 232 U.S. Homes for a Month
Gore’s personal electricity consumption up 10%, despite “energy-efficient” home renovations

NASHVILLE - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

In February 2007, An Inconvenient Truth, a film based on a climate change speech developed by Gore, won an Academy Award for best documentary feature. The next day, the Tennessee Center for Policy Research uncovered that Gore’s Nashville home guzzled 20 times more electricity than the average American household.

After the Tennessee Center for Policy Research exposed Gore’s massive home energy use, the former Vice President scurried to make his home more energy-efficient. Despite adding solar panels, installing a geothermal system, replacing existing light bulbs with more efficient models, and overhauling the home’s windows and ductwork, Gore now consumes more electricity than before the “green” overhaul.

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore won an Oscar, a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore’s home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service.

He was supposively sued by defrauding a charitable environmental organization not too long ago as well.

If he (Gore) is really worried about the effects of "Global Warming"...he ought keep his big trap shut.

Lord only knows how much hot air spews forth from that pie hole.

When is Al Gore going to go away? Please???

It is a shame he can't manage to practice what he preaches, but that does not make what he says wrong.

You Americans need to wake up to what the rest of the world thinks about your responsibility for the state we are in. Stop being in denial and take a lead. Oh sorry, it would compromise our economy.

So will the effects of global warming.

Don't shoot the messenger Timm.

DP, While I don't exactly have my finger on the pulse of American society, those who I do speak to are aware of the state of the world. I don't denied Global warming. I find it unbeleivable, but I don't denied it. The fact is that man made global warning a hypothesis at best and at worse, a complete fallacy. Its an unproven science.

I support not poluting and reducing harmful emissions, but not for the sake of Global Warming. I'm not about changing an entire way of life for something that a large portion of the scientific community scoffs at. Not only is it unproven, but near as I can tell, its unprovable. Forgive me if I "shoot the messenger" but I am not a big fan of being lied to.

The latest 'science' coming in now is that the Earth is cooling and has been for the last couple years.

Based on the last report I saw, there are now more scientists who are now on the bandwagon that says man is not the cause of any global warming than there are who say man is the cause.

This is the argument I always like to use.......

We(Science)have been keeping weather records for about a 150 years now.

Now, if your an old Earth kind of person, this means that over the last couple of billion years, we have records of temp's for about .000000075% of those 2 billion years.

If you are a young Earth kind of person, this means that over the last 10,000 years, we have records of temp's for about .015% of those 10,000 years.

Even if we took the young Earth statistics, how can we even begin to make an educated guess of the fluctuations of Earth's temp's if we only have .015% of the data?

If science had .015% of the data for any other experiment they were trying to find out an average on and used that data as a result for their findings, they would be laughed out of the classroom.

The lates science we quote usually manages to support our position.

Funny that.

Shame about the other latest science, then.

Just saying that there are more scientists now on the 'man not responsible' bandwagon than the 'man is responsible bandwagon.

But how do you like my argument about 150 years of temp records vs a minimum of 10,000 years of Earth's life?

C'mon, .015% of the data?? You can't support the data based on that alone, could you?

Where do you get your statistics from? I don't believe that is the case at all.

Here is a link to a news story from Telegraph.co.uk

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/2053842/Scientists-sign-petition-denying-man-made-global-warming.html

This list far exceeds (by thousands and thousands)any list that says man is responsible for global warming.

There is actually a move to take Al Gore and the like to court to settle this once and for all. The folks who say man is responsible will not debate publicly the opposition for resolution on the matter.

I think this is good.......bring out all the data over the last 150 and compare it to billions of years of Earth existence and show how we know for certain man is at fault.

Maybe the man made theorists might learn that over time the Earth warms up...the Earth cools down (Think last ice age and what melted that?) and there is nothing we can do about it.

There is actually a move by

I don't think anyone doubts that the earth has climate cycles - not even Al Gore.

The issue is, surely, that we are contributing to such a process. Climate cycles and man made global warming are not mutually exclusive.

How could anyone take Gore to court - unless they had a vested interest in shutting him up?

BTW The Telegraph is very right wing. No one here would be surprised by its editorial stance. It's also not a particularly high circulation publication. In a population of 60 something million it rates its readership in hundreds of thousands.

Good discussion guys, when will the democrats realize that global warming coincided with and all stems from Bill Clinton's presidency due to unusual amounts of hot air spewing out into the atmosphere from Washington DC during his years in office. It really is that simple.

It's a joke, so go ahead and laugh, it's o.k.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,”

This is true and a warning for Christians to make sure that what goes on behind doors is equal to that which we preach outside.

God bless you Wayne!

(Oh and thanks for putting my blog on your list! - just noticed!

About the people who want to take Gore and folk like him to court: it seems to me that their motive is simply to justify carrying on damaging the environment. Shoot the messenger and then we can carry on as before. Stewardship? What's that?

Last time I looked, the Bible says that God is the creator of everything! He will not let the earth be destroyed until its appointed time. I agree, Gore is using this as a money making scheme. It will end up making him look the fool. I also agree with you wayne on the .015% amount of data not being conclusive. Good post!
